Voltaren consists from diclofenac sodium, a substance of a non-steroidal structure, has a known phlogistic, antipyretic and analgesic effect.
The main action's mechanism of diclofenac, established under the experimental conditions, is prostaglandin biosynthesis' inhibition. Prostaglandins play an significant role in inflamation, pain and fever genesis.
Anti-phlogistic and analgesic Voltaren's qualities provide a clinical effect, characterized by a significant reduction in the gravity of rheumatic diseases manifestations like pain at repose, making motion, morning joints' stiffness and swelling, as well as improved functional status.
Indications for use:
- Ankylosing spondylitis;
- Rheumatoid arthritis, including juvenile;
- Pain in the spine;
- Extra-articular soft tissue disease and rheumatic;
- Pain syndrome, swelling and inflammation of the soft tissues and joints caused by trauma;
- Primary dysmenorrhea and other gynecological diseases accompanied by inflammation and / or pain;
Dosage and administration:
Voltaren's tablets are swallowed whole with water amount and it is doing preferably before meals. For adults it is recommended a start dose of 100-150 mg/day. In relatively mild cases and for long-term therapy is enough 75-100 mg/day. Dosage (daily) can be divided into several receptions. For children weighing > 25 kg is administered drug dose rate of 0.5-2 mg/kg per day (2-3 doses, depending on disease's gravity). Maximum dosage increasing to 3 mg(per day)/kg is provided for rheumatoid arthritis' treatment (is taken in divided doses).
